Adhesion matters of sticky mats to the floor
Adhesion Matters: Ensuring Proper Bonding of Peel-Off Mats to the subfloor.
Peel-Off mats PMS must be properly positioned to ensure effective retention of dirt from soles and wheels. The base of the 30-sheet adhesive pad is also coated with adhesive to guarantee perfect adherence to the floor throughout its use—typically corresponding to around 30 tear-offs (one per day, sometimes more).
For optimal results, the mat should be applied to a smooth, compact, dry, and non-porous surface. Before installation, it is essential to thoroughly clean the application area, removing dust, particles, and any residue that could compromise the pad’s adhesion. This cleaning process should be repeated each time the mat is replaced, after the 30 sheets have been used, to ensure consistent adherence to the floor.
This issue is far from negligible: improper adhesion of the base can lead to several problems, including:
- Reduced effectiveness of the adhesive mat
- Lifting of the mat, which may stick to the soles of shoes
- Risk of tripping or falling for personnel walking over it
In the video, you can see how the shoe lifts the mat: this happens because the mat’s base is not properly anchored to the floor due to the presence of dust, debris, or dirt interfering between the installation surface and the adhesive base of the 30-sheet pad.
